Michael David Cohen is a historian of the United States with particular interests in the nineteenth century, education, and politics. He received his bachelor's degree from Carleton College and his Ph.D. in history from Harvard University.
Cohen is research associate professor of history and editor of the Correspondence of James K. Polk at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Previously he worked at the Papers of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony at Rutgers University. His writing has appeared in print and online venues including "Disunion," the New York Times' blog about the Civil War.
